Improve your sleep…

by improving your morning!

In order to get a better night's sleep, you need to get that Qi to flow first things in the morning.

YOU NEED QI TO SLEEP

Chinese medicine has a holistic approach to health and well-being, and it views sleep as an essential part of maintaining balance and harmony within the body. When you apply Chinese Medicine from a functional lens, you’ll begin to see the rhythm in your daily habits. Qigong is a great way to apply this medicine into your sleep re-training routines.

Check out this week’s Movement Library video as I demonstrate a SIMPLE yet effective Qigong morning routine to help Qi flow so the day’s Yang energy, turns to Yin for bedtime!

More tips for a better nights sleep…

Here are some Chinese medicine sleep tips:

  1. Stick to a Regular Sleep Schedule: Try to go to bed and wake up at the same time every day, even on weekends. This helps regulate your body's internal clock and promotes restful sleep.

  2. Avoid Stimulants: Avoid caffeine, alcohol, and nicotine in the hours leading up to bedtime. These substances can disrupt your sleep and make it harder to fall asleep.

  3. Create a Soothing Sleep Environment: Keep your bedroom cool, dark, and quiet to promote restful sleep. Consider using blackout curtains, earplugs, or a white noise machine if you live in a noisy area.

  4. Eat a Light Dinner: Eating a heavy meal before bed can interfere with sleep. Try to eat your main meal earlier in the day and have a light snack before bedtime if necessary.

  5. Practice Relaxation Techniques: Chinese medicine emphasizes the importance of relaxation and stress reduction. Consider practicing meditation, deep breathing exercises, or Qigong before bed to calm your mind and body.

  6. Avoid Electronics: The blue light emitted by electronic devices can disrupt your sleep. Try to avoid using electronic devices for at least an hour before bedtime.

  7. Herbs: Chinese medicine practitioners often use herbal remedies to promote restful sleep. Some commonly used herbs for sleep include valerian root, chamomile, and passionflower.
